Delmarva Sailing School

Our Teaching Vessels:

We utilize our 39' Pearson, sloop Gallivant for most on the water classes.
We believe it is important that students should have the opportunity to sail on a sailboat that sails well. This is especially important to the beginning sailor. Once students have seen how a well designed sailboat performs they know what is possible, and can make a better decision on what sailboats to charter or purchase. Many other sailing schools utilize sailboats that simply do not sail well because they are not designed for performance. These sailboats are slow, won’t sail upwind well, and won’t back straight, making docking difficult. Few other cruising sailboats can match the performance of our Pearson 39’.
Our Philosophy:
Gallivant has been completely redone. The hull was sandblasted and repainted and all stantions were rebedded. The old electronics were replaced with new C series Raymarine GPS/Chart Plotter/Radar. The bimini and dodger were replaced with new Sunbrella fabric. Most windows were replaced with new. A new Quantum Mainsail with Dutchman was added in 2015 and new Genoa in 2016. All brightwork and flooring are refinished. All the standing and running rigging was replaced. The engine is new as of 2018. A 6.5 kw generator was added in 2017. Gallivant has also been set up for ocean sailing with Revere Life Raft, storm head sail, Solar panels, and EPIRB. All interior and exterior cushions were replaced in 2015/2016. In short, Gallivant is in better than new condition.
